This Privacy Policy explains how Stanislav Karas ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Plate mobile application (the "App").

By using the App you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

The App is operated by Stanislav Karas. For any privacy question contact us at stasonvk@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the App:

Account data

Your Google account email, display name, profile picture and Google account identifier, received when you sign in with Google.

Health and body data (sensitive)

Age, sex, height, current and historical weight.
Hand measurements (palm and finger lengths) used to estimate food portions.
Activity level and dietary goal.

Dietary data

Food preferences, dislikes, allergies and required foods you enter.
Meals you log — names, descriptions, calories and macronutrients.
Photos of food you take or upload for portion/calorie estimation.
AI-generated meal plans created for you.

Usage and technical data

Feature usage counters used to enforce free/premium limits.
Subscription status (trial, free, premium).
App language, push notification token, and basic error logs.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

3. How we use your data

To provide the core service: estimate calories/macros, build meal plans, track weight and progress.
To process food photos and descriptions through AI models for estimation.
To send reminder notifications you enable.
To enforce usage quotas and manage your subscription.
To respond to your support requests.

4. AI processing and third parties (sub-processors)

To estimate nutrition from your photos and text, we send the relevant content (food photo, your description, and portion context such as hand measurements) to third-party AI providers, which may include Anthropic, Google (Gemini), OpenAI, or DeepSeek, depending on configuration. These providers process the data to return an estimate and act as our processors. We send only what is needed for the estimate and do not send your name or email to them.

Other service providers we rely on:

Google — authentication (Sign-In).
Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions (we never see your full card details).
Push notification services (Apple/Google/Expo) — to deliver reminders.
Our hosting provider — to store your account and logs on our server.

We never sell your personal data.

5. Legal basis (GDPR / where applicable)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of: (a) performance of our contract with you (to provide the App); (b) your explicit consent for health-related data, which you may withdraw at any time; and (c) our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and functioning.

6. International transfers

Some providers (e.g. AI vendors) may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Data retention

Account, profile, health and log data are kept while your account exists.
Food photos are processed for estimation and, by default, are deleted from our server immediately after processing; they may be retained only if you enable photo history, in which case they are kept until you delete the entry or your account.
We delete or anonymize your data after account deletion, except where we must keep records to comply with law.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email stasonvk@gmail.com.

9. Deleting your account and data

You can request full deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing stasonvk@gmail.com. We will action verified requests within 30 days.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, access controls, token-based authentication) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

The App is not intended for children under 16 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact stasonvk@gmail.com.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
